Made reservations via email quite easily! Service was fine dining and excellent. Food was delicious! The pasta was hand made. This place was in a tourist area but was not a tourist trap. Reasonably priced as well. Each pasta dish was around 14 euros.

We had a great dinner at Trattoria da Gianni. Fantastic service, we are not Italian speakers, but every thing was explained in English. Being five adults we shared 4 antipasti: mousse of mortadella and Parmesan served like strawberry ice cream and white chocolate, burratini and beef tartare marinated at the table to our taste. For main courses we all had Tagliatelle Al Ragu (Bolognese). We shared 3 excellent desserts. When we asked for details the chef came to our table and explained the difference in recipes between crème caramel and panna cotta. One of the best experiences we have had in an Italian restaurant, clearly a 5/5 experience. Including two bottles of the best local wine on the winelist, water, 2 x beer, 3 x coffee and 2 x grappa we payed only 52€ per person. That’s a bargain. Highly recommended

Absolutely excellent food! And magnificent service. Hidden gem I think right behind all the crowds and the typical red and white table clothes. Very affordable good pastas (we had the daily specials), wines and desserts. And very friendly people. Real Bologna food - please go.

Being off the main thoroughfare, this trattoria was mostly patroned by locals, always a good sign. The service was fantatsic and the waiters where happy to help with the menu. The menu was small which showed the care for the dishes on offer, and it was evident from the locals eating there that they were regulars - all good signs for what was to come. We settled on a bottle of white from the region and ordered the Tortellini filled with ricotta in a butter and sage sauce and the Maccheroncini culaccia e zucchini (maccheronin with ham and zucchininsauce). Both were flavourful and offerred a tatse of the delicious home cooking of Bologna. Definitely worth a visit when in Bologna!

We came here close to closing time this evening and were worried we wouldn't get a table but we were welcomed and shown the most amazing service. It is quite an authentic place with mostly local customers and we spoke Italian with our waiter instead of immediately switching to English. It was a lovely experience and we felt very well looked after. The food was delicious. We got the grimigna with salsiccia, the tortellini with parmesan cream and the chocolate mascarpone dessert. I'd recommend Trattoria Gianni to anyone looking for an authentic experience.

Top notch service and delicious pasta. Recommended on a reddit thread that this place is mainly frequented by locals, we found that to be true, felt like a true Trattoria experience.

Nice and quietly (almost hidden) located in the middle of the city center. Great pasta, great wine and very friendly staff. Small but very well focused and well cooked menu, added up with daily specials on a chalk board.
